Taste Of Fall That Won't Last Long.
This little taste of Fall we're getting is nice while it's here. Finally lower dewpoints that make the sunshine tolerable. In fact the air dried out enough last night for our skywatcher in Coalmont to report a morning low of 59! And atop Fort Mountain this afternoon only topped out at 80.
This morning I noticed the difference while jogging. It just felt good out. And my running buddy was even more glad than I was. Dudley didn't have the extra long goobs hanging from the corner of his mouth, and for a long stretch today he was very happy to just jog along. And every so often he'd look up at me with a twinkle in his eye as if to say, "Man, you gotta love this." Or to put a Scooby-Doo spin on it, he was saying, "This is ROW-Kay!"
Unfortunately this time around it won't last long. The steam starts returning by Friday, and I still think it's going to be a pretty muggy night at the area football stadiums. Another front drops in by Monday with scattered storms fairly widespread by then, but very little happening before then.
"Debby" is somewhat weaker today, but the National Hurricane Center still has it going to hurricane strength gradually the next few days. But this still looks like a "fish" hurricane staying out over the Atlantic as it passes East of Bermuda.
Another upper low is spinning over the Gulf that probably won't become anything tropical....but it bears watching. One of the models brings it back up towards the Gulf over the next few days with quite a bit of rain. We'll see.
Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot. High: 92
Friday: Mostly sunny and steamy. High: 94
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a 20% chance for a pop-up storm. High: 93
Sunday: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance for a pop-up storm. High: 90
Monday: Partly cloudy with a 40% chance for scattered storms. High: 87
