How About Some More Rain?

Every once in awhile I get something that makes me smile and say, "WOW!". Boyd Treadwell of Chatsworth, GA sent in these two pictures that are wow worthy. Especially the top picture which is a 12 foot tall tomato plant. Tomatoes tend to be heat lovers, so I guess the "bonus" heat and humidity we've had this year have been primo conditions for Boyd's plants. I wonder what variety he planted? The bottom picture is one that is pretty neat as well, but we get these "X" marks the spot shots every once in awhile. Still, I like the view through the trees with a hint of sunset in the sky.
It was nice to get some rain and cooler temps around the area Friday through the weekend. Friday was a nice cloudy 82, Saturday back up to 90, but yesterday's high was only 85. And I think most of this week we'll be within a few degrees of our average high 89.
How about some more rainfall? Here's how we stack up compared to last year:
  • Rainfall Since Aug. 1st 2006: 2.01" 2005: 2.26"
  • Since June 1st 2006: 8.68" 2005: 15.36"
  • Since January 1st 2006: 27.27" 2005: 33.44"

Average rainfall amounts Tuesday into Wednesday should end up between 1/4" to 1/2".

Today: Partly cloudy and steamy with highs near 90.

Tonight: Clouds increase with a slight chance for a shower by daybreak. Low: 73

Tuesday: Scattered showers and a few storms. High: 88

Wednesday and Thursday: Partly cloudy with a slight chance for a shower or storm mainly south of Chattanooga, and east of I-75. Highs near 90.

Friday: Partly cloudy and steamy with highs near 91.

Hamilton county students went back to school this morning. Best of luck to all of them as they begin a new year. By now most schools are now back in session around the area. Thankfully this week and next don't look as hot as the first ten days of the month.
