Weather Picture Looking Wetter.
A couple of great shots for our "Photo Friday" segment on Channel 3 Eyewitness News Today this morning.
Thanks to Scott Martin of Whitwell, TN for sending the top picture of Rainbow Cave in the Sequatchie Cove in Marion County. Scott says the water flows out of the top from the cave, and into a hole directly below. But no one seems to know where it goes from there. (Maybe it's just pumped back into the cave to flow back out....hahahaha.)
And thanks to Larry Rigg of Ooltewah, TN for sending the second picture. These are mammatus clouds as a storm approached Larry's house earlier in the month. Great shot Larry!
Some rain and a few rumbles of thunder across the area this morning, and there should be some more this afternoon through tonight. Average rainfall amounts will tally up to more than 1" for many locations by tomorrow. And locally heavier amounts will occur. Right now it looks like we wake up to mostly cloudy skies Saturday morning, but skies should become partly cloudy during the afternoon. Then only a slight chance for an isolated storm Saturday afternoon. Sunday will be warm and humid but dry. Progressively steamier next week.
Today: Rainy periods and some storms. A few could be severe this afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Tonight: Scattered showers and a few storms, but ending late. Low: 70
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance for an isolated storm. High: 86
Sunday: Mostly sunny and warm. High: 88
Monday: Partly cloudy and sticky. High: 91
Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance for storms. High: 92
Have a great weekend!

Wow, those are gorgeous clouds in that photo. I've only seen those once, but they are a rarity unfortunately.
