Sunshine And Sunflowers

Thanks this morning to Kathy Davis for sending this picture of September sunflowers. It's a beauty, and I'm glad she's sharing it with everyone.
Weather-wise things look pretty nice for the next few days. We'll see a lot of sunshine today and tomorrow with big swings in temperatures from the morning hours into the afternoons. Our next front comes whipping through here on Thursday. Right now the air is pretty dry and the speed of this front won't allow much moisture return. So I think most areas get less than 1/4" of rain on Thursday. What will grab your attention is the cooler air behind this front Friday and Saturday. Another front may breeze through here on Sunday with a few mainly light showers.

Today: Sunny and nice. High: 77

Tonight: Clear and chilly. Low: 52

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, pleasant. High: 80

Thursday: Scattered showers a few thunderstorms early. High: 71

Friday: Mostly sunny, cool and breezy. High: 68

Saturday: Sunny and cool. Morning lows around 44 in Chattanooga, but outlying areas should drop into the upper 30s. High: 71

The Department of Homeland Security announced yesterday that $5 million dollars has been made available to put NOAA weather radios in all 97,000 public schools in the U.S.. Tennessee and North Carolina are among six states that already mandate the weather radios are in place in schools. But they will still get the most up to date models. Delivery is supposed to take place in October. That's great news, and perhaps long overdue.
