Get Out Yer Sleds And Hit The Mountains!
Many thanks this morning to Kathy Johnson who sent the top picture in from Sequatchie Mountain. In the picture are 17 month old Sophie and 15 month old Joeleigh enjoying their first snow. What a great moment captured in that picture!
A lot of folks keep asking about Todd Yakoubian our former weekend meteorologist at Channel 3. Todd's working in his hometown where his family is. Yesterday the same storm that came here was moving through Little Rock. Todd works for the ABC affiliate there. After work he was able to have a little snowball fight with his nieces. That's Rachael in the picture.
And finally thanks this morning to Clint Cole for sending a nice picture of the woods near his house on Fredonia Mountain. If you haven't already, there's nothing like a walk in the woods while it's snowing. If you sit still long enough after a fresh snowfall you'll be amazed at the critters you'll see. And how far off into the woods you can see. One of my favorite things to do.
When I awoke at at 1:00 am to light snow covering everything but the sidewalk and driveway on Signal. By the time I had showered and dressed, the snow was really coming down and the street in front of the house was 2 inches of slush.

Look for northwest winds to increase today to 15 to 25 mph and gusty. An upper low will drop towards the Tennessee Valley tonight, slinging occasional snow flurries and snow showers across the area. So some mountain tops could see and additional inch or two by the time Sunday night gets here. And some valleys north of the city could see 1/2" to 1". But very little for valleys from south of Soddy Daisy to Calhoun to Benton.
Watch for scattered slick spots with refreezing tonight and Sunday night.
Big warm-up in store for us by Wednesday. Could be upper 50s then.
I'm going to see about snapping some pictures myself.
Have a great weekend!
