Yesterday's Messy Weather Messes Up Roads Today
Thanks to Jake McGill for sending this picture which was taken from the Eton/Crandall, GA area. Jake was watching Fort Mountain disappear in the morning snow yesterday morning. To get the full effect click on the picture to see it full sized.
The rain snow mix from yesterday is gone, but it left plenty of icy patches on the roads this morning. And as a result, Snowbird was busy with lots of school closings and delays. Sunshine and cool weather will dominate the rest of the day with highs getting close to 50 this afternoon. Tonight will be cold with lows only in the mid 20s in Chattanooga, outlying areas will drop into the teens. Clouds increase with another clipper approaching on Wednesday. And late tomorrow afternoon through Thursday morning a light rain/snow mix will move through. I think most area mountains at least get a dusting. But we are going to have to watch this thing. One of the late night models has up to .25" of liquid possible with this clipper, so I don't think we can completely rule out measurable snows atop our local mountains. Catch Paul Barys' updates beginning at Live at 5 this afternoon. Temps stay chilly through this weekend. And right now it appears another clipper could bring a few flurries to the area Friday night or early Saturday. So we'll at least have some weather of interest to watch the rest of this week. Keep the pictures coming!
