I got you babe. I got you babe.

Header for today's post is the subject line from an e-mail my brother sent to me this morning.
At first my dimly lit light bulb didn't illuminate. But then I realized he was cryptically pointing to the wake-up song in the movie, "Groundhog Day". (And wouldn't you know it's the clever brother who is aptly named today, MoTown Phil. Although no word on whether he's seen his shadow or not today.)
So what's up with Chewbacca from "Star Wars"? Glad you asked. I am tired of not having a local celebrity critter to give a seasonal forecast. So it's up to Chattanooga Chewy to give us a hint of what's in store for the rest of winter. Keep in mind this is Chewbacca's "Wookie" season as a prognosticator. But he's seen the computer models from his terminal aboard the Millennium Falcon. He knows it's going to be a hairy time to forecast the weather for the next month and a half with colder than average temps, and an active southern branch of the jetstream. So Chattanooga Chewy's official forecast is 6 more weeks of winter.
In the short term rainy weather today with most locations seeing 1/2" to 3/4" of rain. A sprinkle or drizzle is possible early Friday morning, but I think we at least see peeks of sun tomorrow afternoon with highs into the mid and upper 50s. Friday night and Saturday a weaker low sweeps south of the area giving us a chance for some light showers. Mountains still have a slim chance for a flurry or snow shower. But that's it. It will be chilly and breezy both Saturday and Sunday. But not super cold for Super Sunday. However, when you compare last Sunday's 67 with this Sunday's high around 47, that's quite a change.
Chewy's going to be right. Another system bears watching for a possible rain/snow mix on Monday. Flurries or snow showers will be possible again on Thursday.
The GFS model goes bonkers on the 13th with another system, that by the time it gets here will likely vaporize like someone sliced by a light saber. But me thinks it 'twill be an interesting February.
By the way, if MoTown Phil is reading this. Stock up on corn for the corn stove. You might want an elevator full by the time this month is through up there.
