Ernesto Pulls Away, Dry Air Pushes In.

Ernesto will keep dousing the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast with heavy rain and gusty winds. But as this headline making storm moves toward the north, dry air moves in here paving the way for a nice holiday weekend. Today we'll see a few showers east of Chattanooga, but the rest of the area will see skies becoming partly cloudy. And Friday Night Football fans will have a pleasant night for week #3 of this season.

Today: Becoming partly cloudy this afternoon with a 20% chance for a shower mainly east of Chattanooga. High: 83

Tonight: Fair skies and comfortable. Low: 65

Saturday: Partly cloudy and pleasant. High: 82

Sunday: Mostly sunny. High: 83

Labor Day: Mostly sunny. High: 84

Tuesday: Partly cloudy. High: 84

By the way August was the hottest on record in Chattanooga. The average monthly temperature was 82.7 degrees, which beat August of 1993 which had an average temperature of 82.5 degrees.
August actually ended up above normal in rainfall. Lovell Field recorded 4.74" which is 1.15" above average. That's the first month since April that rainfall in Chattanooga has been above average.
Enjoy the holiday!
